About New Zealand
For many, New Zealand is a mystical land characterised by toothy, snow covered peaks, geothermal landscapes, and dramatic coastline. If these are the images that thoughts of New Zealand conjure up for you, you wouldn’t be wrong. But ‘the land of the long white cloud’ is so much more than that.
A small country made up of two islands, with a combined area similar to that of the UK, New Zealand lies 1600km (1000 miles) southeast of Australia, on the boundary of two tectonic plates. Its positioning on a plate boundary is the reason for both New Zealand’s susceptibility to earthquakes, and the presence of its geothermal and volcanic landscapes.
In recent years some of New Zealand’s best kept secrets have become common knowledge, and that is the reason that our country is becoming one of the world’s most desirable travel destinations. New Zealand’s amazing walking and hiking trails, our fantastic wine industry, our fresh, seasonal fare, and UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Fiordland National Park are appealing to travellers from all over the world. In our Blog we have detailed a handful of the most popular reasons for visits to New Zealand, and we’ll talk about the best time of year to experience each of them – so go check it out, or scroll down to find out more.
